There’s always something fun to do in the Adelaide Hills! And we’ve shared our favourite foodie destinations, and happenings at the factory, but now we’ve put a list of activities that are sure to keep the kids busy these winter school holidays!
In this day and age, it’s important to encourage the kids to venture outside and explore the outdoors! Although the weather is sometimes a little unpredictable, we’ve packed this blog with an exciting list of activities that are both fun for the whole family, but also weather-proof!
Have some animal fun with the kids!
Located a mere hour from the Adelaide CBD, Monarto Zoo is a 3,500 acre property, including a drive-through cheetah habitat, a southern white rhinoceros habitat and Australia’s largest giraffe herd. In 2015, Monarto achieved one of the most successful giraffe breeding programs in Oceania. How cool is that!? We love celebrating all things in the Adelaide Hills, and Monarto Zoo is one of the most successful attractions. With so much to see and do, the only problem you’ll have it fitting it all in.
With cafe’s onsite, and the opportunity to experience the real nature of these wild animals, the kids are guaranteed to have a blast. Monarto Zoo is open 9.30am-5pm every day these school holidays, with exclusive events like “Meet the keeper,” and the opportunity to win big at their Zoo Shop!
Although the zoo is outdoors, there is ample indoor space, like their fully-functioning cafe and zoo shop! Beat the weather and grab a bite to eat while you wait for the rain to subside. Check out their website for more details.
Get active at the Woodhouse Activity Centre
Get the kids out of the house and spend a day at the Woodhouse Activity Centre. These July holidays, Woodhouse is offering nature-based day camps for kids aged 6-15. Kids will be participating in the famous Challenge Hill obstacle course, games and cooking. They’re encouraged to explore the grounds, participate in a 5.8km round trip through the Adelaide Hills countryside, learn different styles of campsite cooking, build cubby’s and forts from natural materials and also take part in scientific exploration activities!
So much fun is guaranteed, and the best part is it gets the kids away from the electronic devices and out in nature! Probably best for those cooler, clear days, but still one of the best parks to let the kids go crazy!
Check out their website for more details.
Creativity takes flight at the Hahndorf Academy
