Christmas is just around the corner and the Adelaide Hills is certainly the place to be if you want to get into the festive spirit, especially with the Lights of Lobethal!

There are so many wonderful family activities in the Adelaide Hills again this year and with Melba’s  Twilight Trading hours meaning we’re open from 9am – 10pm from the 16th to 23rd of December, it’s the perfect time to enjoy a day or evening in the hills.

We think the perfect Christmas evening is a drive through the Adelaide Hills to enjoy the spectacle that is the Lights of Lobethal, stopping in at Melba’s Factory at Woodside on the way there or the way home to enjoy all the festivities our factory has on offer!

Lights of Lobethal…

An annual tradition for many is an evening drive to enjoy the Lights of Lobethal.

An icon of Christmas in the Adelaide Hills, and the state for that matter, are the Lights of Lobethal, which have been lighting up the Hills for over sixty years. The lights are now recognised as the largest Community Christmas Light Display in the Southern Hemisphere! For all South Australian’s the Lobethal Lights are a must-do activity for the whole family, and with over 700 homes partaking every year, along with businesses, there’s always something new to see.

Having been in the Adelaide Hills for over twenty-five years, you could say our team are well accustomed to the beauty of the Lobethal Lights. But as every Christmas comes and goes, for the Melba’s family a highlight always seems to be the spirit and sense of community the Lobethal Lights bring to the Hills. And it’s always exciting to hear the stories from visitors and tourists who flood the state and witness the Lobethal Lights display. Since more than 250,000 people visit the country-town to explore the light spectacle, it’s no surprise that the Lobethal Lights are one of the most iconic displays in the world.

An evening at Melba’s…

We’re joining in the excitement of Christmas and are opening our doors yet again for our Twilight Trading, with lots of festivity. From the 16th to the 23rd of December, 9am – 10pm, Melba’s will be alight with activities for the whole family, including Father Christmas, face painting, chocolate demonstrations and this year we’ve even got a sausage sizzle! You can also pack a picnic or grab a snag or burger from the sausage sizzle and enjoy an evening on our lovely grassed area.
